Mind altering enhancements played a role in two different instances in rock history today.  I'd tell you what they were, but I forgot what I was talking about....

Oh yeah.

The Beatles met Bob Dylan for the first time on this date in 1964.  It was almost like four teenagers met their old weird uncle out in the back shed as a friend of Dylan's broke out some pot and the Fab Four smoked for the first time.

After ingesting LSD for the first time, Beach Boy Brian Wilson wrote the classic California Girls. The song peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on this 1965.  Personally, I don't need LSD to think about girls, just a pulse.

A song recorded on this date in 1968 would go on to become one of the most popular country songs of all time, and it took only 15 minutes to record.  It was Stand By Your Man by Tammy Wynette, and Hillary Clinton had nothing to do with it.

On this date in 1972 School's Out by Alice Cooper hit #1.  An interviewer had asked Cooper, "What's the greatest three minutes of your life?". Cooper said: "There's two times during the year. One is Christmas morning, the next one is the last three minutes of the last day of school."

Alice Cooper is the I-95 Artist of the day today!  Remember, he'll be here in Bangor at the Cross Insurance Center on October 18th with Motley Crue.  You can hear what he has to say about the appearance in an interview that I did with both he and Tommy Lee.

Born on this day in 1965, one of the best looking women on the planet, Shania Twain. Her album Come On Over has sold over 40 million copies, making it the best selling country album of all time.
