It was on this day in 1961 that The Tokens #1 with a song that every time I hear it makes me want to eat a bullet. Luckily, my wife won't let me own a gun....or an 8 cylinder for that matter.

Yes, one of the biggest mistakes ever made on the planet which created ear worms galore, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, spent three straight weeks at the top of the charts.

This day in 1966, Tara Browne, a young London socialite and heir to the Guinness fortune, died while driving his car way to fast and into a parked taxi on the streets of London.  Tara was a close friend of Mick Jagger and Brian Jones.  Some rock historians say that John Lennon used the tragic occurrence as inspiration for the Beatles song A Day In The Life.   It's anyone's guess at this point, say what you will, ain't no one gonna question you.

In 1971 on this day, Jerry Lee Lewis divorced his wife Myra.  Myra was Jerry Lee's cousin and only 13 years-old when he married her.  But don't worry, his next wife would be 29 year-old.  Don't know how old the next fives were when he married them.

Stones guitarist Keith Richards was born on this day in 1943, and also on this day in 1983 he married Patti Hansen.  Keith has lived in Connecticut for many years now, so we're proud to call him a fellow New Englander!

Elliot Easton, the great guitarist for The Cars was born on this day in 1953.  I'm sure that Elliot is a little bummed that The Cars won't be part of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame's Class of 2016, but being in the business of rock music, he's probably saying, "Screw them!"
