There was no joking around on this day in 1974, the band had been waiting for quite awhile for a #1 hit song, and they finally got it.

The Steve Miller Band finally scored it big with The Joker, the first of three #1 songs that they'd eventually have.  Know what the other two are?  Look it up, because I'm not going to tell you.  Steve Miller will be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame this April, and you can hear his work all day today, as he is the I-95 Artist Of The Day!

On this day in 1977 Keith Richards was fined $1,275 for possession of cocaine.  Cops had found the drug in his car after he had crashed it into a palm tree.

The Police held their first rehearsal ever on this date in 1977, when Sting, Stewart Copland and guitarist Henri Padovani got together at Copland's apartment.  No one knew the words to Roxanne yet.

On this night in 1996 AC/DC played the first date of the eleven month Ballbreaker Tour in Greensboro, North Carolina.  They brought their golf clubs.

Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees died on this day in 2003 of a heart attack during abdominal surgery at a hospital in Miami.  Maurice had been married to British singer Lulu  from 1969 to 1973. The Bee Gees released 20 albums in their time, and of course the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever was their biggest selling work.
