Billy Idol had to come up with $2700, the "quiet Beatle" got hitched, disco hit a peak, and the Wolfman was born.

George Harrison married Patti Boyd on this day back in 1966.  The marriage lasted until 1977, long after Layla was written by Eric Clapton.  Gee, guess who she married next?

Patti Boyd, an English model and photographer, would go on to marry Eric Clapton in 1979, and then the two would split in 1988.  She was the inspiration behind Clapton writing Layla in 1969.

It was this date in 1968 that Jimi Hendrix recorded the Dylan classic All Along The Watchtower in London.  Brian Jones of the Stones and Dave Mason from Traffic can also be heard on the song.

On this night in 1972, Pink Floyd played the concept album Dark Side Of The Moon in it's entirety onstage in Portsmouth, England. Millions of college students would follow suit in their dorm rooms with the windows closed and without instruments.

It was 1978, and the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever hit #1, and would stay there for twenty four weeks.  Dudes from Calais to Bethel were slicking that hair back and struttin' their stuff down the sidewalk to Stayin' Alive.

In 1994, Owner Of A Lonely Heart by Yes hit #1 on the pop charts, which was a first for this very progressive rock band.  No longer could the band walk the streets with dignity.

It was on this day in 1992 that Billy Idol pleaded guilty to assault charges and was fined $2700.  Apparently Billy, while under the influence of something,  tried jumping into a car with a couple of fine ladies when leaving a West Hollywood restaurant.  It didn't work out very well, and Billy had to scrape up the money.  So once again, we'll take any excuse to proclaim someone the I-95 Artist of the Day, which Billy is today!

Legendary DJ Wolfman Jack was born on this day in 1938.  Born Robert Weston Smith, the howlin' gravely voiced DJ could be heard across most of America in the early sixties from a AM station in Mexico that was so powerful you could fry an egg on the pavement 100 yards from it's tower. Wolf was part of WNBC New York during the late seventies that also featured Don Imus, Soupy Sales and Howard Stern.  He would die in 1995.
