It was this day back in 1969 that Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were kicked out of the Hotel Crillen in Lima, Peru, for wearing pants.

Management at the very exclusive hotel  asked the rock duo to leave for wearing "op art" pants and nothing else. Op art pants, don't leave home without them!

In 1979 the Canadian band Rush was named that country's official Ambassadors Of Music by the Canadian government. After 34 years of lobbying and schmoozing in tune, the band was finally inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2013.

Steve Clark, a guitarist with Def Leppard was found dead by his girlfriend on this day back in 1991.  Clark had prescription drugs in his system along with an alcohol level of .30. In 2007 Clark was ranked No.11 on Classic Rock Magazine's "100 Wildest Guitar Heroes".

Elvis Aaron Presley, the "King Of Rock And Roll" was born on this day in 1935.  Elvis hit the big time in 1956 with Heartbreak Hotel, his first Gold Record.  Many more Gold Records and movies would follow before he ended up face down in the bathroom shag carpet in 1977.  Elvis would have been 81 today. To this day, the #1 song ranked by fans, according to RCA Records is Jailhouse Rock.

More birthdays for today include Robert Krieger, the one time guitarist of The Doors, who's 69.  Mike Reno of Loverboy, (no, those aren't his pants on the cover of the album), is 61.  And Ziggy Stardust, or, the Thin White Duke, or, David Bowie is 69 today!
