It was on this date in 1964 that one of the most popular rock songs of all time hit #1 on the Top 40 charts!  What do you think it was?

House Of The Rising Sun by Eric Burdon and the Animals was the only #1 song for the band, and it was also the first song to hit #1 that was longer than 4 minutes.

The Rolling Stones played their very first concert on this date in 1963, appearing at a club in Yorkshire, England.  They opened for the Hollies.  The Stones finish up their North American "Zip Code" tour this week in Quebec City.  Make sure you listen to I-95 this coming weekend as we feature the Stones!

Ozzy Osborne and Black Sabbath ventured onto the stage for the fist time on this date in 1968, it was at a club in Birmingham, England. It was pretty much the beginning of heavy metal, and yes, listeners did complain about the volume.  I tell you, you just can't call a career in rock and roll complete without doing your own version of "Blue Swede Shoes."

Elton John's album "Caribou", his eighth studio album hit #1 on this date, it featured the song "The Bitch Is Back!"
