The Who played the first gig of their first North American tour on this date.  They were the opening act.  Any idea who the headliner was?

On July 14th, 1967, The Who opened for Peter Noone and Herman's Hermits.  Yup, first the audience heard "My Generation", and then later in the night they heard "Mrs. Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter", a pretty drastic contrast.  Hopefully the drugs were good that night.

Elvis Costello and The Attractions played their first concert ever on this date in 1977.  It was at the Garden, Penzance, Cornwall, England.

The Wall, Pink Floyd's movie, opened on this date in 1982 at the Empire in London.  The film mostly written by former Floyd member Roger Waters was critically acclaimed and drew big audiences. Meanwhile, Roger Waters' The Wall Tour made oodles of $ between 2010 and 2013, it was seen by over 4 million fans and was the largest tour ever by a solo artist.

Just yesterday, Waters unveiled a trailer for a film that documented that tour, it's called Roger Waters' The Wall, and it will be shown worldwide for one day only on September 29th. Check out the trailer below.

It was on this date in 1984 that Eddie Van Halen re-created his famous guitar solo within the Michael Jackson song "Beat It."  It was by chance that both Van Halen and The Jackson's Victory tour were both in Dallas, and it created a great moment in rock history!
