Oh, those memories.

After 44 years, today we finally learned who Carly Simon was singing about in her hit song You're So Vain.

Carly Simon has a new book coming out on Tuesday the 24th titled Boys In The Trees, and she names actor Warren Beatty as being the subject of at least one of the song's verses.

In the second verse of the song she writes:

"You had me several years ago when I was still quite naive.  Well you said that we made such a pretty pair, and that you would never leave.  But you gave away the things you love, and one of them was me."

Within the book Carly says that Warren Beatty thinks the entire song is about him, but it's not.  She goes on to hint that the other two verses are about two other men.  SImon had dated Mick Jagger and actor Jack Nicholson prior to releasing the song.

By the way, Paul Wolfe thinks that Carly's song Nobody Does It Better is about him.

One of rock and roll's biggest original hit songs was recorded on this date in 1955 when guitar ace Carl Perkins did a little pickin' and grinnin' and laid down the track for Blue Suede Shoes!  Don't you step on 'em!

And another of rock's pioneers was in the news on this date in 1979 when Chuck Berry was sentenced to four months in prison for tax evasion.  We're guessing that he didn't do that duck-walk thing out of the courtroom that day.

On this date in 1983, yet another member of Badfinger committed suicide.  Guitarist Tom Evans hung himself from a willow tree in his back yard.  Family members said that he never did get over finding Pete Ham, his fellow guitarist in the band, hung from a tree in 1975.  Badfinger had a few big hits like Day After Day and No Matter What.  Their song Baby Blue became very popular when it was featured in the finale of the hit TV Breaking Bad.

In 1988 Bon Jovi hit #1 with Bad Medicine, the first single from their album New Jersey. "And I got all the symptoms count 'em 1, 2,3." Figure out the three symptoms and win ONE MILLION DOLLARS!  No, not really. Just kidding, loser.

IN 1994 on this date David Crosby had a successful liver transplant in California.  His liver was entirely shot.  Gee, wonder how it got in that condition.  On another note, check out this great version of Long Time Gone featuring, yes, Tom Jones!  Pretty f**kin' cool!

On this date in 2001 the Beatles released their greatest hits compilation titled !.  It has gone on to sell over 31 million copies. Hey, you can't go wrong with a album that contains 27 #1 songs on it.

In 2002 on this day Michael Jackson dangled his nine-month old son over a third floor balcony in Germany.  The world was stupefied.  The young song was born Michael Jackson Jr, and was given the nickname Blanket.  Just recently Blanket changed his name to Bigi, because he was tired of being made fun of in school.  Yes, Bigi is a much more respectable name to go by.
