It was this date in 1973 that Ringo Starr hit #1 with a song that he and George Harrison had written together.

Photograph was his first of two #1 songs as a solo artist.  The video was shot at RIngo's new home, Tittenhurst Park, which was formerly owned by John and Yoko.  Hopefully he changed the artwork on the walls.

Back in 1984 on this day, Tommy Lee married Elaine Margaret Starchuk, who also went by the professional name of Candice.  Her profession?  Nude model.  The marriage last only one month, which is a normal tenure when hitching up with a nude model.  The Motley Crue drummer would also go on to marry Heather Locklear and Pamela Anderson.

He took over the drum sticks when Peter Criss left Kiss back in 1980, and he continued with the band until his death on this date in 1991.  Eric Carr, who was born Paul Charles Caravello, died from cancer.  Carr's stage persona was known as The Fox.

One of the greatest rock and roll singers ever also died on this date in 1991, just one day after announcing that he was HIV positive.  Freddie Mercury, the fabulous and flamboyant lead vocalist of Queen was only 45.

In true rock and roll tradition, 52 year-old Bill Wyman, the original bass player for The Rolling Stones, married 18 year-old Mandy Smith in 1990.  They would divorce two years later on this date in 1992. Apparently Bill tired of her always asking for the keys to the car.

Donald "Duck" Dunn, the fine session bass player and member of Booker T. & The M.G.s was born on this date in 1941.  You may remember when Dunn and his long time friend and guitarist Steve Cropper starred in the Blues Brothers movie. As most rockers do, Dunn died in his sleep in a hotel room, while on tour in Japan, in 2012.

Lee Michaels was born on this date in 1945. Born Michael Olsen, his claim to fame was the song, Do You Know What I Mean?
