It took only three takes, and the Beatles had completed another song that your mother thought was about drugs. She was probably right.

Daytripper was recorded on this date in 1965. John Lennon said that the song was indeed a song about taking a day trip on board a ferry, but years later Paul McCartney would say  that the song was about drugs and "a tongue-in-cheek song about someone who was ... committed only in part to the idea."   Anyway, Cheap Trick would have a big hit with their version of the song years later, which shows you how drug induced the seventies were.

It was on this date in 1972 that Creedence Clearwater Revival officially split up after Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook and Doug Clifford demanded the same royalties as lead vocalist and song writer John Fogerty.  Things were just a mess.  In the end Forgerty was screwed for years on end as the others including their former manager walked away with a lot of the song rights and the name of the band, at least for a while.  You can get John Fogerty's version of the story in his brand new book called Fortunate Son.  By the way, CCR is the I-95 Band Of The Day!

In the 1986, Chuck Berry celebrated his 60th birthday with Keith Richards, Eric Clapton and others in St. Louis.  The concert and goings on was filmed and the movie was released as Hail Hail Rock & Roll!  Chuck taught these rock and roll legends not only how to play his songs but also how to do the Duck Walk, something that Keith Richards still has a hard time with till this day.

Born on this date in 1947 was Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead.  Bob still has a hard time tuning his guitar, but Deadheads have never seemed to mind.
