On this date in 1971, Mick Jagger became a father for the first time when his then wife Bianca gave birth to daughter, Jade, in a Paris hospital.  Mick would go on to have six more children.  Guess with how many different women.

Four different women.

Rod Stewart has eleven children with five different women.

Rock stars are a very fertile breed.

Chuck Berry finally hit #1 in 1972 with My Ding-A-Ling, a song that made ambiguous references to his manhood and sent God fearing mothers everywhere diving for the volume knob on their radios.  My Ding-A-Ling outsold the rock n' roll pioneer's prior efforts that included Johnny B. Goode and Maybelline, proving once again that the American public found songs about silver bells hangin' on a string funny and exciting enough to create campfire sing-a-longs.

On this date in 1976 Keith Moon would play his last concert with The Who.  He would die less than a year later in London  from an overdose of a drug that prevented him from drinking. Interestingly enough, Moon had been renting an apartment from Harry Nilsson and it was that apartment that he died in.  It is also the same apartment that Mama Cass Elliot had died in four years prior.  Spooky.

Following the terrorists attacks of 911, the Concert for New York City was held on this date in 2001 to raise funds for the victims, the first responders, and their families.  Millions of dollars were donated as big Hollywood stars introduced the likes of Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Billy Joel, The Who and others.

Born on this date in 1941, guitarist Steve Cropper of Booker T and the MG's, and also of The Blues Brothers Band!
