Here's a couple of songs that will stay stuck in your head for a while!

It was on this date in 1969 that The Band released their self-titled album and it featured what are now two American staples:  Up On Cripple Creek and The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down!  The album has become so culturally significant that it has been preserved into the National Recording Registry, a special place where you'd never find an album by Britney Spears.

In 1972, David Bowie, a man that goes by many names, one of them being Ziggy Stardust, kicked off his North American tour today in Cleveland.  And what did Ziggy do?  Ziggy played guitar, of course.

In 1973 the Rolling Stones hit #1 with Goats Head Soup. The album contained Angie, a song everyone embarrassingly sings when their alone in a car.

Gary Numan hit #1 on the charts with the song Cars.

Here in my car
I feel safest of all
I can lock all my doors
It's the only way to live
In cars

Gary gets around, but he doesn't get out much.

In 1985, the very first Farm Aid concert took place in Champaign, Illinois.  It was put together to collect funds for the struggling American farmer by Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young.  The trio got the idea when Bob Dylan performed at Live Aid a few months earlier and suggested that some of the money raised there ought to go to farmers.  It was a pretty good show, although the stage was covered in cow dung.

On this date in 1992, the driver of Def Leppard's equipment truck ripped off a store and then abandoned the still loaded truck while on the run from the law.  A couple of shows had to be cancelled.  When the driver was finally arrested cops found his pockets filled with Jolly Ranchers.

Born on this day in 1951 was David Coverdale, lead singer for the very hairy 80s band Whitesnake.  More importantly, he slept with Tawny Kitaen.

And Joan Jett, our I-95 Artist Of The Day, was born on this date in 1960.  Inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame just this year, Joan was due to open a few dates for The Who this year until Roger Daltry came down with an illness and the tour was postponed.  Joan kicks ass.  Joan can kick my ass, any day.
