It was on this date in 1971 that the Grateful Dead's manager was arrested after ripping off the band of over $155,000.

Interestingly enough, Lenny Hart, the father of Dead drummer Mickey Hart, owned a drum store when the Dead decided to make him their manager.  Lenny Hart was actually acting as a minister and baptizing people when a private detective located him.

Rod Stewart, the fabulous English football player and sometime singer, scored a #1 in Great Britain on this date in 1972 with You Wear It Well.  Mop top Rod has been busy singing adult standards lately in Vegas, and has even dabbled in country music just this year. In 1989, Ozzy Osbourne, the Godfather of Heavy Metal, was arrested after threatening to kill his wife Sharon.  Eventually the charges were dropped when Ozzy agreed to a lifetime of being bossed around by a woman who loves dogs and has a piercing British accent.

The only person to ever really play with the Beatles, keyboardist Billy Preston, was born on this day in 1946. Yes, that was him playing on Get Back!  Billy had a few big songs like Will It Go Round In Circles and Nothing From Nothing.  The Houston born artist died of kidney disease and hypertension in 2006.
