Here's a help wanted ad for you:  'Madness folk & roll musicians, singers wanted for acting roles in new TV show. Parts for 4 insane boys, ages 17 - 21."

The ad in the Hollywood Reporter on this date in 1965 was for the prospective Monkees television show, and by 1967 The Monkees were on their way to selling over 50 million records!

On this date in 1973, the Brothers and Sisters album by The Allman Brothers Band began a five week run at #1.  It was the group's only #1 album, and it came following the deaths of guitarist Duane Allman and bassist Berry Oakley.  The album was recorded at a farm that the band had been hanging out at in Juliette, Georgia, and featured great southern rock like Ramblin' Man and SouthboundThe Allman Brothers are the I-95 Band Of The Day!

It was on this date in 1965 that the song that Keith Richards dreamed of became a reality and hit #1!  Keith had played the beginning riff of (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction into a tape recorder late in the night while staying in a Florida hotel room.  When he awoke the following morning, he heard himself play the riff a couple of times on an acoustic guitar, and then all you could hear was snoring for the next 40 minutes.

Helter Skelter was recorded on this date in 1968 by the Beatles at Abbey Road Studios!  Paul McCartney screamed so loud and for so long that his throat began to bleed, John Lennon played bass and honked on a saxophone, and for some strange reason, George Harrison ran around the studio with a flaming ash tray on his head.  Good times.
