A Yorkshire Terrier was rescued from a pickup truck after the vehicle rolled in Branch Lake in Ellsworth Saturday afternoon.

The Ellsworth American reports the dog's owner had parked his GMC pickup truck in the parking lot off of Red Bridge Road.

The dog somehow “knocked the truck out of gear and it rolled down the parking lot into the lake,” said Ellsworth Police Lt. Harold Page.

A friend of the owner of the dog pulled the animal from the truck before it became fully submerged, according to a Facebook post from the Ellsworth Police Department.

The truck, which is considered a total loss, was pulled out of the water by Dave's Towing.

Thanks to Dave's towing and Ryan for swimming out and hooking up the cable. A dog took a truck for a wild ride. The dog was saved by a family friend. No one injured.
