You've seen the videos online of Christmas light displays set to music. But did you know we have one right here in Bangor? And I'm not talking about that car dealership that's doing it. The Hathaway Holiday Lights are at a private home. And the family is using the display to raise money for the area's babies. Don't miss it!

The Hathaway family spent a lot of hours setting up the more than 25,000 Christmas lights. Then there's the job of programming the lights to each song. I can only imagine the patience that goes into this display.

In between each song there's a recorded message, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and giving details about what it took to put together. The voice-in-the-radio asks that visitors be respectful of their neighbors, keep the music at a reasonable level inside your car, and then talks about how Christmas is for children.

That's why the Hathaway family says they're collecting donations for the Neonatal Unit at Eastern Maine Medical Center. A large Christmas stocking is hanging out front where you can drop your donations.

The Hathaway Holiday Lights are on Hillview Drive, in Judson Heights, off Broadway in Bangor. Just pull onto Judson Boulevard, take your first left onto LaSalle Drive, and then a right onto Hillview. The lights are on each night from 5 to 9pm. I don't know if they do it each weekend, but last Saturday the family had free cookies and hot chocolate, and were out by the road, greeting anyone who got out of the car to make a donation.

Check out the video I made. And sorry if you hear a clicking sound. I had my blinker on! Once you see the video, you'll want to go by and see it for yourself. And take a little spare cash to drop in the stocking.

Merry Christmas!
