Don't drink and drone.

That may be the hidden message in this video from Lakemaid Beer, which has begun testing a drone that will deliver beer to people ice fishing in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

We'll wait a moment so we're not drowned out by all the hootin' and hollerin'.

The drone is inspired by Amazon's highly-publicized attempts at using drones to deliver merchandise to customers.

Lakemaid Beer Company President Jack Supple, who says he'd be happy to collaborate on the science with Amazon, said the internet goliath has different concerns with the technology:

Amazon faces a lot of obstacles. Dense urban locations present a host of problems to drone delivery. But our tests are on vast, wide-open frozen lakes free of trees and power lines. Our drone can fly as the crow flies, straight to our target, based on GPS coordinates provided by an ice angler. Fish houses are very uniform in height, so we can fly lower than FAA limits, too.”

The FAA doesn't allow small businesses to employ drones, although it will revisit the guidelines by next year. In the meantime, ice fishermen will just have to make due stopping at a liquor store to get their beer before dreaming of the day someone else bring them their brewskis.
