The State's Legislature may enact a one year moratorium on the use of UAVs in Maine.  Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, or drones, are widely used by the military overseas, especially in the Middle East, but how would you feel about police and other local agencies using them here in the Pine Tree state?

Officials here in Maine are downshifting a gear, and may be slowing the process of drone use with a one year moratorium.  Other states are watching us to see what we'll do.

Law enforcement could use drones for everything from watching the border for illegal crossings, to what is happening in your own backyard.  Some feel that drones would infringe on their personal freedoms.

There is currently no use of drones in Maine at this time.

Senator John Patrick has submitted a bill to regulate the use of drones, and he has recently said, "this is a real opportunity for us to be pro-active on something".
