A woman from Belmont called the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office to make a complaint that she had been assaulted by a Montville man.

Deputy Wiley McVety and Sgt. Matt Curtis responded to the call and learned that Edwin Furbush, 44, had been at this Belmont residence during the evening hours. Due to having consumed alcohol, Furbush was allowed to sleep on the couch for the night. After retiring for the evening, the female homeowner was awoken to  Furbush attempting to remove her clothing.

The woman was able to separate from Furbush and called 911. Furbush, a convicted sex offender, was interviewed at his residence in Montville and issued a summons for Class D Unlawful Sexual Touching.
