The Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce has announced their annual award winners for the year.  They will be presented at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting on May 2, at the Ellsworth High School Auditorium.

According to the Chamber's latest press release, ballots went out to all of the chamber membership during the month of February for Citizen of the Year, New Business of the Year and the Revitalization Award.

Here are the results:

Hancock County Sheriff William Clark has been selected as this years Citizen of the Year.  The award is given to an outstanding individual who embodies community spirit through volunteerism, involvement and advocacy.  Bill has not only given countless hours to Ellsworth and Hancock County in his role as Sheriff for 30 years but he has donated just as many for several other local agencies and causes.  The Sheriffs Cup Basketball tournament is just one of the countless programs Bill gives time and talent to.

The 2013 new business of the year will be awarded to 86 This!  A restaurant sandwich shop that opened in 2011 on the corner of State Street and Main Street.  Owners Jeff and Diane Kelly-Lokocz have established a unique dining experience in downtown Ellsworth, sourcing local ingredients and creating interesting combinations that keep locals and visitors returning for more!

Bar Harbor Bank and Trust Company will take home the 2013 Revitalization Award for their complete renovation of their High Street campus.  The project included removing two older buildings and replacing with a newly designed Financial Center that not only houses the Ellsworth Branch of the Bank but a financial home base for BHBT as well.  The corner of High and Washington Street now has greater green space, a pleasing New England Exterior and a more convenient location and amenities for its customers.
