Weather which has caused a little bit of havoc in Eastern Maine in November, is continuing to cause problems in December.

The Ellsworth Christmas Parade which was scheduled to take place Saturday, December 6th has been canceled because organizers didn't want parade participants to be injured dealing with slippery streets and sidewalks. The forecast is calling for rain and freezing rain in the morning and switching over to rain in the afternoon.

Thelma Beal, one of the organizers stated that the decision was made on Friday afternoon so that participants wouldn't make their floats and then have the parade canceled on Saturday morning.

The Ellsworth American's Joy of Reading event, where young children can get a new book, has been rescheduled until next Saturday, December 13th from 10 AM to 1 PM.

The weather has also resulted in a time change for the Ellsworth - Foxcroft Academy Girl's Basketball game on Saturday. Now, the JV will play at 1:30 and the Varsity at 3 PM. The 3 PM varsity game will still be aired on WDEA AM 1370 and WDEA Internet Radio

Changes to events involving MDI High School Athletic Teams include the postponement of the Freshmen Girls basketball game at Nokomis. The PVC Swimming Relays at UMO will start at 12:00 instead of 10:30. The bus will leave high school at 10:15. The Wrestling meet at Belfast will begin at 10:00 instead of 9:00. The bus will leave the high school at 7:45 AM. There is no change to the Boys Basketball Game at Old Town with the JV at 5:30 & Varsity at 7:00 PM. The MDI - Old Town Boys Basketball Game will be aired on WDEA AM 1370 and WDEA Internet Radio.
