A 25 year old Ellsworth woman driving a Subaru collided with the Downeast Scenic Railroad train today, and luckily escaped the mishap with minor injuries.

Gabriella Just was driving on Davis Street in Ellsworth and did not see the approaching train, which eventually hit her car on the driver's side.  The train was traveling at 10mph with it's horn blaring and bells ringing. The train was loaded with passengers, mainly tourists who were out for a scenic ride on this very rainy Labor Day.

The impact spun the Subaru around into a chain link fence. The train was slightly damaged.

There are no warning lights at the Davis Street crossing.
