Ellsworth Police To Hold 2nd Citizen Police Academy [INFO]

Ever wonder what it's really like to enforce the law?

The Ellsworth Police Department will hold it's second Citizen Police Academy beginning Wednesday, April 22nd!

According to the Department's Facebook page, the reason for the Citizen Police Academy is "to provide an opportunity for the members of the police department to come together with the citizens and explore the issues and concerns which exist within the community."

The program sounds interesting with lectures, demonstrations and videos on how police officers do their jobs. How to conduct a traffic stop, investigate computer and drug crimes, and a K9 demonstration are all part of the Academy. You'll even get to ride on patrol with an officer for a four hour period!

The classes will be held every Wednesday between 6 and 8PM at Ellsworth City Hall. You must be a citizen of Ellsworth, over 18 years of age and pass a background check.  The classes are free.  Pick up an application at the Ellsworth Police Department, on their Facebook page, or at the City of Ellsworth's web site.  You must have your application in by April 13th.
