Ellsworth’s New Knowlton Park Officially Opens Sunday [PHOTOS]

It's been a long time coming and it's finally here! Let the party begin!

The Grand Opening of the NEW Knowlton Park on State Street in Ellsworth happens this Sunday between 1 and 3PM!  A park dedication and donor recognition program will begin at 1:30.

Late yesterday I strolled the grounds of this beautiful new city attraction, and everyone involved, from the initial dreamers, the designer, to the donors and builders have a lot to be proud of!

The park now has stone walk ways, strolling grounds down to an amphitheater where movies, musicians and plays will soon perform, a semi-covered picnic and party area, a sprinkle pad for the kids on hot days, fabulous new restrooms, a well lit area for the winter ice rink, and a refurbished playground!

The well lit park features beautiful garden areas, and nicely done granite sitting stones complete with donor's names, which are also inscribed on walkway stones scattered throughout the park.

I along with others are curious about the huge urn located by the exit, which we hope to find out more about this Sunday afternoon.

Thanks to everyone's efforts, children, parents, family, friends, locals and those from away now have another Ellsworth attraction to enjoy!
