During the day on Monday, Lewis allegedly was attacked by Richard Sneddon, a 45-year-old  panhandler in Downtown Portland’s Congress Square. Lewis had taken a break from setting up the show to take a walk in the downtown area.  He was attacked a block away from the State Theater, police said.  After the attack, Lewis was taken to Maine Medical Center after complaining of leg pain, later in the night he underwent emergency surgery.
