If you hear numerous emergency sirens in Ellsworth this Wednesday around 12 noon, it's just a drill!  Whatever is happening is not real, at least this time.

The Ellsworth Police Department in cooperation with Maine Coast Memorial Hospital and the Maine State Police will hold training for a "active shooter scenario" at the hospital beginning at 12 noon and lasting until approximately 4 p.m. this Wednesday, July 27th.

The training will take place in the administrative wing of the hospital.

According to a post on the Ellsworth PD Facebook page, several scenarios will be explored including employee domestic disputes and patients who are extremely upset.

The post says that the PD have trained in the past in the local schools and that they realize an active shooter situation can happen just about anywhere.
