If you have ever dreamed of owning a piece of Maine history and a n interesting business your dream could come true for as little as $125.00 and a stamp.  The owner of the Center Lovell Inn and Restaurant is looking to retire and rather than going through the typical real estate sale she has decided to have an essay contest to give the property away.  Not a completely original idea, it was back in 1993 when the previous owners had an essay contest and Janice’s entry won.  The hope is finding a person this way somewhat ensures that the person will love and care for the inn like Janice herself has over the years.

The property located in Center Lovell in the lakes & mountain district of Western Maine and across the street from Kezar Lake, offering spectacular views of New England’s famous White Mountains is valued at an estimate $900,000.00.  This means that Janice needs 7000 entries to garner the value of this property.

The Center Lovell Inn was built in 1805, and features two outbuildings, as well as scenic views of Kezar Lake and the White Mountains. There are 10 guest bedrooms, a 40-seat dining room.

All entries must be mailed in by May 17. The essay must be no more than 200 words, written in English, and explain why the writer is the right caretaker for the inn. It must be typed or legibly handwritten.Click here for rules and instructions. Good Luck!
