Additional Information

The 25th annual Blue Hill Pops Concert, sponsored by the Bagaduce Music Lending Library, will be held on Friday, July 3 at 7:30 pm in the George Stevens Academy gymnasium on Union Street in Blue Hill.

This year’s festival of “Sounds Around Blue Hill” will feature the renowned folksinger Noel Paul Stookey, the “Paul” of Peter, Paul and Mary. In addition, the acclaimed dance theater company Alison Chase/Performance will present a new dance work set to an original score composed and performed by Grammy Award-winning Maine composer and pianist Paul Sullivan.

Flash in the Pans, Maine’s largest community steel drum band, will open the evening with their fiery and infectious Caribbean rhythms. The New Trad Trio will entertain concert goers outside the gym with traditional jazz of the 30s and 40s. And the Bagaduce Pops Singers, under the direction of Bronwyn Kortge, will end the program with a choral medley from the Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway show “Rent”.
As in past years, Blue Hill Pops will conclude with a patriotic finale featuring an audience sing-along of our nation’s service songs and “America the Beautiful”.

Table seats, reserved chairs and bleacher seats are available for Blue Hill Pops in a range of prices, beginning at $10. To purchase tickets call 207-374-5454. Corporate sponsors for the 2015 Blue Hill Pops Concert are Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, Cape Air, Lambert Coffin Law Offices, PenAir and Stanley Subaru.
