There are over two dozen beautiful and historic lighthouses in our great state.  See for yourself on September 8th. It's not hard because more than likely there is one near by.

Lighthouse.org is a great way to find the one that suits your fancy. Or if you are up for a more encompassing experience of lighthouse history the I have been to the Lighthouse Museum in Rockland and it is amazing.

This yearly event is sponsored by the U.S. Coast Guard, the Maine Office of Tourism and the American Lighthouse Foundation. On Saturday September 8th participating lighthouses will be open from 9 AM - 3 PM. These are the Maine towns where lighthouse can be enjoyed and lighthouse.org will give you more details and directions.
