A fifth body has been found in the rubble of a burned-out apartment house. One is in critical condition, and the State Fire Marshal's office says 3 or 4 more are unaccounted for after a fire in a two-unit apartment building. Police now say none of the victims are believed to be students.

Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland says the fire on Noyes Street in Portland was reported at around 7:17 Saturday morning. The two-story building was home to students from the University of Southern Maine campus. There were several people at the house Friday night for a Halloween party.

The State Fire Marshall's office says seven people escaped the fire without injury. One young man suffered severe burns when he jumped from a second story window. He's been taken to a Boston hospital for treatment. Fiver people are confirmed dead.

A team of fire marshals, headed by State Fire Marshal Joe Thomas, spent the day at the scene to investigate the cause, along with Portland firefighters.
