Now personally I have used and loved transition lenses for my prescription glasses for years. That said when I read the the U.S. Food and Drug Administration had approved the first contact lenses that can darken like my sunglasses I thought , “No way  that would look  sooooo creepy”.

So these FDA approved lenses according to WebMD have a special additive automatically darkens the lenses when exposed to bright light, while they become clear again in normal or dark lighting conditions. It's the same technology used in photo-chromatic transition lens glasses.

These new lenses are soft contact lenses that can be used by folks with many different kinds of vision problems.  The lenses are called Acuvue Oasys Contact Lenses with Transitions Light Intelligent and will be available next year. So I went looking to see if I could find a video of what they look like and found that I am not the only one who thinks the effect will be creepy.

Guess the Walking Dead fans will be in their glory.
