Boston is tobacco-free.

Mayor Marty Walsh signed a ban barring the use of smokeless tobacco products at all Boston sports venues. This includes snuff, chewing tobacco, dipping tobacco, dissolvable tobacco products or snus. The ban takes effect April 1, 2016.

The ban also applies to players on the field. Sorry Big Papi. Earlier this year former Red Sox, Curt Schilling was diagnosed and treated for mouth cancer. He thinks chewing tobacco was the cause.

Violators of the new law of the land will be removed from the venue and face a $250 fine.

Boston joins San Fransisco as the second city in the country to ban smokeless tobacco at all sports venues.
