The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for much of Maine, as thundershowers cross the state.

A band of slow-moving showers and thundershowers is moving into our area, and has the potential to drop a lot of rain. According to the NWS website, we could get 1 to 2 inches of rain, with the possibility of higher amounts in some areas, in a very short time. This rapid rainfall could cause streams, ponds, and rivers to overflow their banks.

Drivers are reminded to limit distractions and pay attention to possibly changing road conditions this afternoon and evening, and possibly into tomorrow morning. Mind any roadblocks and never drive around them with the idea that your vehicle 'can make it.' And never drive through standing or flooding waters, because you don't know what's underneath the water. If the vehicle stalls, you could be submerged in flood water, or your vehicle swept away.
