Flick Chick here once again in the pursuit of truth, justice and keeping you from spending your hard earned money on movies that suck! Over the weekend Ma and I donned our radiation suits and headed into the Bangor Mall Cinemas to see ‘Godzilla’.

This movie runs 2 hours, is considered an action, adventure, Sci-fi and is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of destruction, mayhem and creature violence. This film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins and Brian Cranston

Summary:

The world's most famous monster Godzilla fights two giant bug like creatures who  have destroyed nuclear reactors in the past. The big bugs are parasites that eat radiation and after one makes a nuclear disaster it is kept alive to absorb the fallout. Years later miners disturb another of the creatures (female) and the two seek to mate which would cause the destruction of pretty much everything. This imbalance (they said) brought Godzilla to the surface to fight the big bugs and restore balance and save the human race

Review:

If you like movies short on story and explanation and long on destruction Godzilla is for you but not for me particularly. I have seen in some of the older Japanese versions of the tale of Godzilla where he is more like the hero or at least misunderstood like King Kong. What I didn't think they really explained sufficiently was these other bug things. Where's they come from and how come they're breeding now. Add to that the stupid idea of fighting a creature you know eats radiation with nuclear weapons and I am shaking my head.  Enter Godzilla up from the center of the earth or sea floor living off radiation of the earth's core but able to breathe and live on land but never see until now when he is longer and two aircraft carriers and 6 times higher when swimming in the water...O K. if you say so, I guess. You know I like fantastic as much as the next guy but I need a good back story and at least a little believability of which I got neither which leaves me  on a scale of 1-10, I’d to give ‘Godzilla’ an 6.

Show me everything playing right now at the Bangor Mall Cinemas
