Flick Chick here once again in the pursuit of truth, justice and keeping you from spending your hard earned money on movies that suck! Over the weekend I donned my Viking horns and headed into the Bangor Mall Cinemas to see ‘How To Train Your Dragon 2’.

This movie runs a little over an hour and a half , is considered an action, adventure animation and is PG for adventure action and some mild rude humor. This film stars the voices of Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Johna Hill, Cate Blanchett and America Ferrera.

Summary:

In the first How To Train Your Dragon the chiefs ne’re-do-well son Hiccup befriends a dragon he names toothless and helps to restore flights to the beast it lost when he had tried to kill it as was the aim of the village at the time. Since then the entire village has adopted dragons as pets and steeds and while exploring the outer reaches of their world Hiccup and Toothless come across a island of multitudes of wild dragons and a mysterious rider who looks after them. He also runs into a ship of dragon catchers who reveal the plot of an evil Viking who intends to start a dragon war and Hiccup feels he is the only person who can convince this man to seek peace instead.

Review:

I liked the first movie in this series quite well and I feel this is a nice follow up.  The script does well progressing the relationship between hiccup and his father Stoik.  It also shows valuable lessons in being yourself and the importance of family and loyalty.  The movie did drag for just a short while early on but overall the pace was good and the story was follow able for even the smallest viewer. Parents and feel confident taking kids to this that neither they nor the kids will walk away unentertained.  I even heard some little ones clapping at the finally. Good follow up to the first and on a scale of 1-10, ‘Finding Nemo’ being  a 10,  I’d to give ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2’ a 8.

Show me everything playing right now at the Bangor Mall Cinemas
