Flick Chick here once again in the pursuit of truth, justice and keeping you from spending your hard earned money on movies that don’t make the grade! Last night I took hold of my emotions and headed into the Bangor Mall Cinemas to see ‘Inside Out’.

This is an animated comedy, drama movie that runs 1 hour 45 min. The film is rated PG for mild thematic elements and some action and stars Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Lewis Black, Bill Hader, Phyllis Smith

Summary:

‘Inside Out’ follows the life of a little girl named Riley and the emotions that develop and grow with her inside her head.  Everything is fine and mostly happy as emotion Joy will tell you until a move from Minnesota to San Francisco ruins more than just pizza. Joy and Sadness get lost in long term memory and with on one left to govern Riley’s emotions but Anger, Disgust and Fear things go bad quickly.

Review:

Let’s start with the short that starts every Pixar feature film, this one was called “Lava” and in my opinion was too slow, too serious and frankly a little blah.  Not a very good way to get out of the gate if you ask me.  The movie itself was cute but I had heard some rumors it was magnificent and it really wasn’t. It was an O.K. story. In my opinion it lagged, had too many sad moments and was I thought too serious for most kids. Although it had a few light moments most of the really funny stuff came after the movie was over as it looked into the emotions of other people and animals. Overall, it was good but by the standards of ‘Monster’s Inc’ and Finding Nemo’ not on par. I think what is missing is a comedian who improvises humor, I.E. Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres and Robin Williams style.  Amy Poehler's 'Joy' was cute but it needed more to be great.  So on a scale of 1-10, I’m giving ‘Inside Out’ a 7.

Show me everything playing right now at the Bangor Mall Cinemas
