Flick Chick here once again in the pursuit of truth, justice and keeping you from spending your hard earned money on movies that suck! Over the weekend I grabbed a mic and my best tuxedo jacket and headed into the Bangor Mall Cinemas to see ‘Jersey Boys’.

This movie runs 2 hours and 15 minutes, is considered a Bio-Drama Musical and is R for Language throughout, but hey they’re from Jersey. This film stars Christopher Walken, Vincent Piazza, Freya Tingley, Francesca Eastwood, Kathrine Narducci and most notably is directed by Clint Eastwood.

Summary:

This movie is taken from the Broadway show of the same name.  It follows the life of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons from the wrong side of the tracks in New Jersey to the big time as one of the most iconic groups of the 60s.

Review:

For the record, no pun intended, I love the music of the Four Seasons, I like musicals and bio pics. So I was ready to really like this film. Unfortunately, my butt and back told me I didn’t.  The largest issue I felt was pacing. The overall story was fine but it lagged in many spots for no real reason. I think it tried to stay true to the play while adding some more gritty elements for film and would up being a bit of a mish mosh.  The music was great of course and the story interesting but they needed to wrap it up on about 90 minutes not 135.  Mom seemed to like it more than I did citing that she could remember where she was when the songs peaked on the charts.  Personally I had just been born so no help for me there. On a scale of 1-10, I’d to give ‘Jersey Boys’ a 6.

Show me everything playing right now at the Bangor Mall Cinemas
