Flick Chick here once again in the pursuit of truth, justice and keeping you from spending your hard earned money on movies that don’t make the grade! Last night I grabbed a friend and headed into the Bangor Mall Cinemas to see ‘Jurassic World’.

This is an action, adventure, sci-fi movie that runs two hours. The film is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of science-fiction violence and peril and stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D'Onofrio, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson.

Summary:

At this time, Jurassic World has been up and running for twenty-two years since the day John Hammond, Ellie and Dr. Grant ran packing.  The park is run by a woman named Claire (Bryce Dallas-Howard) under the direction of a board and the new owner who require constant innovation to keep visitor numbers up. Also on Isla Nublar is a man named Owen (Chris Pratt) whose function is a dinosaur trainer for the Velociraptors. When the geneticists in the lab, per the board’s request, create a bigger badder dinosaur to draw more guests concerns arise as to the control and containment of the new T-Rex++ hybrid. Owen is called in to evaluate the pen and new "Asset" when all hell breaks loose. With the creature escaped 20,000 visitors are at risk on the island including Clair’s two visiting nephews.

Review:

‘Jurassic World’ is available 2 or 3D.  I saw it in 3D but the wow factor for the 3D is low, so if you’d rather see it in 2 D you’re not missing much. It has been a while since I saw all the other Jurassic movies but I thought they did an O.K. job covering all those bases. Needless to say with Spielberg involved you know the CGI and special effects were awesome. In reference to the cast I liked the chemistry between Pratt and Howard however, some of the interaction between the nephews seemed a little forced.  Overall, I thought the story line held up well but like almost every sci-fi movie ever made there are a few ‘just roll with it’ moments if you want to enjoy yourself. The good news is once the action gets underway you really won’t care about some less than plausible situation and character decisions. They also gave several of the dinosaurs more in the realm of character development in this movie which played well.  So on a scale of 1-10, I’m giving ‘Jurassic World’ a 7.

Show me everything playing right now at the Bangor Mall Cinemas
