Flick Chick here once again in the pursuit of truth, justice and keeping you from spending your hard earned money on movies that don’t make the grade! Last night I grabbed my book on German folklore and headed into the Bangor Mall Cinemas to see 'Krampus'

This is a comedy, fantasy, horror film that runs 1 hour and 38 minutes. This movie is rated PG-13 for sequences of horror violence/terror, language and some drug material and stars Adam Scott, Toni Collette, David Koechner, Allison Tolman, Conchata Ferrell

Summary:

Based or a character from German folklore Krampus is a large hairy creature with goat horns, cloven hooves and a long lolling tongue who carries branched and chains to beat children who have behaved badly during the Holidays before he eats them. (How quaint) Wikipedia cites many parts of Europe where it is believed he traveled with Santa in the shadows. In this film Max is a young boy who wants to believe in Christmas but whose family is so unkind and irreverent to Santa he wishes they weren’t there and accidentally summons Krampus.

Review:

Because this movie is hard to rate I am going to give you my Christmas Krampus recipe to describe this movie.

  • Start with two heaping Tablespoons of German folklore
  • Add one cup of ‘National Lampoons Christmas Vacation’
  • And one cup of ‘Gremlins’
  • And one half cup of ‘Twilight Zone’
  • Stir briskly and then fold in a quarter cup of Stephen King’s ‘It’
  • Now bake for an hour and a half and sprinkle with a smashed snow globe from the ‘Santa Clause’ and you’ve got it. Somewhat amusing, jumpy in a few places, not recommended for younger children but another good reason to be nice during the holidays.

So on a scale of 1-10 I am giving ‘Krampus’ an 6

Show me everything playing right now at the Bangor Mall Cinemas
