Flick Chick here once again in the pursuit of truth, justice and keeping you from spending your hard earned money on movies that suck! Today Ma and I made a break for it and headed off to the Bangor Mall Cinemas to see Labor Day’.

This movie runs just under two hours and is most definitely a drama and it is rated PG-13 for thematic material, brief violence and sexuality. Labor Day stars Kate Winslet, Josh Brolin, Gattlin Griffith, Tobey McGuire

Summary:

Adele, is a divorced woman emotionally locked away by the tragedy of her past which caused her husband to leave her for another woman.  She and her son are doing their best to get by when over the Labor Day weekend they are forced into helping and escaped convict.  It all seems scary until the convict’s story and character begins to come to light causing everyone’s future to seemingly shift.

Review:

This is a great movie for a patient romantic. Josh Brolin and Kate Winslet do admirable jobs with their characters.  The story although not always complete takes you on a slow ride of bad things happen to good people and sometimes, never judge a book by its cover, and love wins out. Although I can’t say it doesn’t plod at points it wraps nicely and your patience is rewarded. On a scale of 1-10 I am giving ‘Labor Day‘a romantic 8
