Flick Chick here once again in the pursuit of truth, justice and keeping you from spending your hard earned money on movies that don’t make the grade! Over the weekend grabbed spy glass and headed to the Bangor Mall Cinemas to see ‘Mortdecai’

This movie runs just under 2 hours is an action, comedy and is rated R for some language and sexual material. The film stars Johnny Depp, Ewan McGregor, Paul Bettany, Gwyneth Paltrow, Aubrey Plaza

Summary:

Mortdecai is a comedy about a deeply in debt, aristocratic, art dealer / con-man Charlie Mortdecai (Johnny Depp) battling with unscrupulous art collectors and terrorists to find a priceless painting said to contain a code that leads to Nazi gold before they do.

Review:

This movie has a real sense of whimsy. It pulls no punches to make fun of British Aristocracy and their financial plight. If you are a fan of classic films Its style and rhetoric would put you to mind of the 'Thin Man' series from 1934 starring William Powell and Myrna Loy.  The characters and situations are a little cartoony with the comic gate of the ‘Grand Budapest Hotel’ and the complicated feeling of a 'Hercule Poirot' mystery. Very silly, tongue in cheek, fast paced, all over the globe and twist upon twist in the story line. I laughed a few times. A few times I got lost in where they were going with the plot and I was maybe a little bored a few times.  Overall it was cute. On a scale of 1-10, I’m giving ‘Mortdecai’ a 6.

Show me everything playing right now at the Bangor Mall Cinemas
