Flick Chick here once again in the pursuit of truth, justice and keeping you from spending your hard earned money on movies that suck! Over the weekend Ma and I jumped into the way back machine and headed off to the Bangor Mall Cinemas to see the new Dreamworks animated film ‘Peabody and Sherman’.

This movie runs right around and hour and a half and is rated PG for for some mild action and brief rude humor. This film stars the voice talents Ty Burrell, Max Charles, Ariel Winter, Allison Janney, Stephen Colbert.

Summary:

Based on the 1960’s television cartoon of a brilliant dog, Mr. Peabody and his boy, or in the case of the movie adopted son.  Peabody legally adopts Sherman as a baby and they blissfully travel through time in the way back machine.  However, on the fateful Sherman starts going to school the fact his father is a dog causes him to be bullied by another student to the point he bites her. This throws child services into the mix and raises the question of Mr Peabody’s fitness as a parent. Upshot this is a tale built around discrimination, blended families and human tolerance not really so much of a history lesson.

Review:

I watched Peabody and Sherman as a kid and was always quite taken with the cartoon.  It seems though with the movie they tried to make it have a little deeper social commentary which I think made it a little boring for the kids between fart jokes. On a  scale of 1-10, ‘Finding Nemo’ Being a 10, I’d give Peabody and Sherman a 6.

Show me everything playing right now at the Bangor Mall Cinemas
