Flick Chick here once again in the pursuit of truth, justice and keeping you from spending your hard earned money on movies that don’t make the grade! Over the weekend, I grabbed my spy kit and headed into the Bangor Mall Cinemas to see ‘Spy’.

This is an action, crime, comedy movie that runs two hours. The film is rated R for language throughout, violence, and some sexual content including brief graphic nudity and stars Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham, Rose Byrne, Allison Janney, Miranda Hart.

Summary:

Susan Cooper joined the CIA to add excitement to her life yet she winds up behind the scenes and doubting her own abilities. Then just when she thinks things will never change all of the CIA field operatives are exposed and it is up to Susan to go into the field and stop the sale of a nuclear bomb.

Review:

This movie is very James Bond-esuqe, as the title implies and they have a lot of fun with it. 'Spy' was produced by the makers of ‘Bridesmaids’ and you can see them playing to a lot of the same comedic strengths in Melissa McCarthy’s character in this film. Two really bright spots in this film are brought in by the performances of Jude Law and British actress Miranda Hart. This movie has a good story, several really funny moments and the writing is cleaver. As an aside, although I laughed plenty I thought the lady behind me was going to pee her pants. So on a scale of 1-10, I’m giving ‘Spy’ an 8.

Show me everything playing right now at the Bangor Mall Cinemas
