Flick Chick here once again in the pursuit of truth, justice and keeping you from spending your hard earned money on movies that don’t make the grade! Over the weekend put my Home Depot apron grabbed a hammer and went to the Bangor Mall Cinemas to see 'The Equalizer'.

This movie runs just over 2 hours, is an action, crime, thriller and is Rated R for strong bloody violence and language throughout, including some sexual references. This film stars : Chloe Grace Moretz, Denzel Washington, Melissa Leo, Marton Csokas, Haley Bennett

Summary:

Unsure how to frame this story I'll give you Sony's summary: In The Equalizer, Denzel Washington plays McCall, a man who believes he has put his mysterious past behind him and dedicated himself to beginning a new, quiet life. But when McCall meets Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), a young girl under the control of ultra-violent Russian gangsters, he can't stand idly by -- he has to help her. Armed with hidden skills that allow him to serve vengeance against anyone who would brutalize the helpless, McCall comes out of his self-imposed retirement and finds his desire for justice reawakened. If someone has a problem, if the odds are stacked against them, if they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer.

Review:

Let me start by admitting I never watched the TV show which the film’s producers may be relying on to give you more of the story of who this guy is and why he finds it so easy to do all the things he does in the movie. But I didn’t and although I can suspend a certain amount of reality for some movies (you know the one’s… superheros, dragons and Harry Potter and such) the premise of this film is supposed to be plausible. And well, without understanding how in the heck anyone would or could do the things and just walk around free left gaping questions and holes in this film that made it seem unrealistic and therefore a little boring because it failed to engage me. The acting was fine, it was the script that was insufficient for me so on a scale of 1-10, I can only give ‘The Equalizer’ a 5.
