Flick Chick Review ‘The Family’
Flick Chick here once again in the pursuit of truth, justice and keeping you from spending your hard earned money on movies that suck! Today Ma and I put on our dark glasses and went into witness protection with ‘the Family’ at the Bangor Mall Cinemas.
The Family is an Action | Comedy | Crime movie which run approximately 2 hours and is rated R for violence, language and brief sexuality.
Directed by Luc Besson and stars Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Dianna Agron | Tommy Lee Jones and John D’Leo
After ratting out all his mafia colleges and failing in every town they are placed in mafia boss Fred Manzoni and his family are relocated to a sleepy town in France under the witness protection program. Despite the best efforts of CIA Agent Stansfield (Tommy Lee Jones) to keep them in line, Fred Manzoni (Robert De Niro), his wife Maggie (Michelle Pfeiffer) and their children Belle (Dianna Agron) and Warren (John D’Leo) can’t seem to break their criminal old habits. Eventually, a series of missteps blows their cover by handling their problems the “family” way, is their only hope of surviving mafiosas that wish them dead from successfully hunting them down.
Well I don’t need to tell you that the cast is amazing. I can tell you that their chemistry is good and the story intriguing. In fact, I was drawn in and engaged and ready to laugh when it started. However, once the story was established although there were some clever lines and concepts the cold gratuitous violence and general unhappiness of the main characters was off putting for me. A few steps too far and not enough humor to balance the film, I was left pretty nonplussed
On a scale of 1 – 10 I give’ The Family’ a 5
