Flick Chick here once again in the pursuit of truth, justice and keeping you from spending your hard earned money on movies that don’t make the grade! Last night I grabbed my crucifix and a sword and headed into the Bangor Mall Cinemas to see 'The Last Witch Hunter'

This is an action, adventure, fantasy, that runs 1 and ¾ hours. The film is PG-13 for sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images and stars Vin Diesel, Elijah Wood, Rose Leslie, Michael Caine.

Summary:

This is a story of the life of witches and humans and their life together. This coexistence hangs delicately on a truce between the two with the two factions being responsible for their own governing. An immortal named Kaulder (Vin Diesel) works with a group of priests called Dolans (Michael Caine and Elijah Wood) who help him watch over the humans, keep in check all uses of magic and chronicle Kaulder’s life. One night his Dolan of 50 (Michael Caine) years falls victim to an exceptionally difficult curse that is just the tip of the iceberg for the evil Afoot. At this point attempting to get to the bottom of it Kaulder enlists the reluctant help of a witch, Chloe (Rose Leslie)

Review:

If you are looking for some magic this Halloween season this movie may be just the movie ticket. Think Harry Potter meets Highlander and you’ve pretty much got it. Vin Diesel is what he is and this role works pretty well for his acting chops or the lack there of. The supporting cast gives a nice compliment and the special effects are very well done. Not too scary but a good story with a solid well executed plot. It did seem to lag just a bit in the middle but regained its legs and pull it all together by the end with a little twist. So, on a scale of 1 – 10, I am giving ‘The Last Witch Hunter’ an 8.

Show me everything playing right now at the Bangor Mall Cinemas
