Review:

Let me say right up front I have not read the books of this series.  To me it was kind of Percy Jackson meets Twilight with just a dash of Harry Potter. Fantasy action packed and the special effect in the movie were very well done.  I did read a book synopsis before going but I think the screen writer did a good job getting in all the important information and keeping the story complete.  Lily Collins and her fellow actors did a great job meshing the character together, believable performances all.  The only down side of the first movie in any series is there is a lot of time laying ground work so it can plod a little. Overall if you liked any of the other movies I mentioned in the start of my review I think you'll find this one engaging and well done. Remember if you are planning to take someone under 13 the story deals with demons and some of them are nightmarish.  On a scale of 1 – 10 I’d give this movie an 8.
