Flick Chick here once again in the pursuit of truth, justice and keeping you from spending your hard earned money on movies that don’t make the grade! Over the weekend grabbed my own track shoes and rubber raft and headed to the Bangor Mall Cinemas to see Unbroken'

This movie runs 2 1/4 hours is a biography, drama, sport and is rated PG-13 for war violence including intense sequences of brutality, and for brief language. The film stars Jack O'Connell, Domhnall Gleeson, Miyavi, Garrett Hedlund, Finn Wittrock  and is Anjelina Jolie’s directorial debut.

Summary:

Based on the true story of Louie Zamperini the story take us from his troubled childhood and Italian roots to a turn in his character inspired by the love of his family. With a purpose and goal he becomes a track star and after competing in the Olympics like many men of the era he goes into the service. After a near-fatal plane crash in WWII, he spends a harrowing 47 days in a raft with two fellow crewmen only to be “saved” by the Japanese navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.

Review:

This is an amazing story and according to my Mother is also a great book. As for Angelina Jolie’s first time in the director’s chair and I think it went alright. The actors did a terrific job and had good chemistry. All that said, it dragged in a few places but stuck in a raft or prisoner of war camp I’m sure is like that. Of course, the barbaric nature of war is always pretty startling to me and I am always effected by mostly historic accounts of how evil we can be to each other as human beings. I also found myself wishing that Angelina had cut some of the more tedious parts to give us more of what happened after he got home which was ultimately his true victory. Guess that's what Wikipedia is for. On a scale of 1-10,  I’m giving Unbroken' a 9.

Show me everything playing right now at the Bangor Mall Cinemas
