Like the ghost of Christmas past I have resurrect this to wish you a Very Merry Christmas!

Hey, Flick Chick here with my top picks for holiday movies. Let it be said that I haven't seen every holiday movie ever made so if you think I am missing something feel free to comment.  What makes a great holiday Movie for me is a story that shows redemption and our better side as human beings. Believing in love towards ourselves and others is important for every season of our lives but it is Christmas that brings that to the top of our awareness every December.

    National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

The comic misadventures of the beleaguered Griswold family continue in the third and most successful entry in the Vacation film series. This time America's most dedicated dad, Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase), is determined to stay at home to create "the most fun-filled old fashioned family Christmas ever" -- but life has a particular way of throwing wet logs on the Griswold family fire. Make merry with Chase, Beverly D'Angelo, Randy Quaid and an ensemble of comedy favorites (look for Emmy and Golden Globe-winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus from TV's Seinfeld in a supporting role). Written by John Hughes (Home Alone series).

    Miracle On 34th Street

This is a great Holiday movie starring Maureen O'Hara and Natalie Wood. Little Susan 's mother wants to bring her up in a real world that believes there is no Santa, but then he shows up in person and everyone is forced to not only to believe but prove it to keep him out of the loony bin.

For the record, I like the 1994 version with Elizabeth Perkins Dillon McDermot too.

    Scrooged

I actually think this is one of my favorite Bill Murray movies of all time. High-spirited high jinks on Christmas Eve put Frank Cross (Bill Murray) in a ghostly time warp in this hilarious take-off of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol." Cross, who has made the meteoric rise from the depths of the mailroom to TV network president, is mean, nasty, uncaring, unforgiving and has a sadistic sense of humor - perfect qualities for a modern-day Scrooge. Before the night is over, he'll be visited by a maniacal New York cab driver from the past, a present-day fairy who's into pratfalls and, finally, a ghoulish, seven-foot headless messenger from the future.

    It's A Wonderful Life

George Bailey has so many problems he is thinking about ending it all -- and it's Christmas! As the angels discuss George, we see his life in flashback. As George is about to jump from a bridge, he ends up rescuing his guardian angel, Clarence. Clarence then shows George what his town would have looked like if it hadn't been for all of his good deeds over the years. Will Clarence be able to convince George to return to his family and forget suicide?

Scrooge the Musical with Albert Finney

Scrooge was designed as a follow-up to 1968's Oliver!, the Oscar-winning musicalization of Charles Dickens' "Oliver Twist". The umpteenth musical version of Dickens' 1843 novelette "A Christmas Carol" Scrooge features several sprightly Leslie Bricusse songs including the bona fide hit "Thank You Very Much." Buried under mounds of latex Albert Finney is Ebenezer Scrooge. The Three Ghosts who turn the miserly Scrooge's life around on Christmas Eve are portrayed by Edith Evans (Past) Kenneth More (Present) and Paddy Stone (Yet to Come). Sir Alec Guinness also appears as a fussy slightly effeminate Marley's Ghost. Intriguingly Finney performs his many songs live without post-production dubbing. Truly my favorite...thank you very much:)D
