For some 22 years Beta Theta Phi has been having ‘Sleep Outs’ to benefit Rape Response Services, a local  organization offering prevention education, support and a 24 hour hotline for victims of sexual assault.

This year’s 'Sleep Out' event is this Saturday, February 21st in the front of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity House at the University of Maine. Festivities start at 6PM and run through  6AM the next morning. Last year, Beta raised in excess of $8,000 in donations. Their hope is that this year, with your help, they can raise even more! You can also donate on line.

As for sleeping? Sounds more like a party. Organizers promise speakers from the University and local community also, staff from Rape Response Services of Bangor and other student organizations. As much fun as education, there will be also games, performances from singing groups on campus, and raffle prizes being awarded. The fraternity brothers will create a bonfire on the front lawn of the house.
